Council Members

Four members of the general public and four historic preservation experts are appointed by the President, including the chairman and vice chairman.

In June 2010, Milford Wayne Donaldson, FAIA, LEED AP was appointed by President Barack Obama as Chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Donaldson most recently served as the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) for the state of California from 2004 through 2012. The SHPO serves as Chief Administrative Officer of the Office of Historic Preservation in Sacramento and as Executive Secretary of the State Historical Resources Commission.
